Better late than never! Introducing Mlkwood Studio, Bridlington!

Its been some time, but I thought I would get my blog going again! After selling The Priory Menswear in 2017 to Internet Fusion, it sadly closed its Bridlington stores the summer of 2018. It was a sad time, but me and Leo thought we would go back to our creative roots. 

 We got the keys to number 12B High Street, Old Town the 1st October 2018! And along came Mlkwood!

The name is from the poem of Dylan Thomas.. "Undermilkwood" we have just slightly changed the spelling.

Mlkwood is part gallery, part creative studio. Leo with his background in graphic design, uses it for his office and create hub. Whilst I use my creative taste filling the place with original art and handmade goods.

We are both pleased that from coming from a creative background, a lot of the pieces to purchase are friends of ours, local and from slightly further a field. 

We have been open a year now! Its crazy! The place is completely different from when we opened, it definitely shows more of our personality. Going into Christmas, we are very excited and can't thank everyone enough for there support.

Anyhow, that's my first blog post done for a while. I hope to keep this a regular thing again, and share ideas and news from myself and the gallery!

I still have my print studio at home and desperate to get back in it, it just needs a Spring clean,

Dads Army Hits Bridlington!

Wow, I have had a busy month in November and December and just realised I have completely neglected my blog! Naughty me. So I am back and I have loads to blog about before the year is up. Firstly, it has been such a fantastic time in Bridlington for the community. It has been the home for a few weeks for the Dads Army crew for their new film to be released in 2016. I myself, was even lucky to have them film on the same street, five doors down. 

Their main filing took place on the Old Town High Street of Bridlington. The shops were painted and completely transformed into a Walmington-on-sea. Many people visited from across Yorkshire. It's a shame it wasn't summer, it was a little chilly stood watching :)

Here are some of the shops....

I popped down to the old town on a couple of occasions to have a go at star spotting. As a little girl I grew up watching Dads Army regularly with my grandad. I cannot wait to see the film. 

I was also lucky enough to get nearly face to face with Catherine Zeta Jones. She was absolutely beautiful. She arrived and left the set in a blacked out car but it was amazing to see her filming from a distance and then see her close up. The town was full of excitement. 

They filmed during the day and at night. Using a large light in the sky to create moonlight upon the high street. I was lucky enough to have them film outside my house using this. They turned all the standard street lights off and this was the only light.

The film isn't due out till apparently 2016. That seems like such a long time! I'm sure Bridlington will be counting down the days. 

Dickensian Festival, Bridlington 2013.

This weekend it was lovely to be back home and have my work exhibit in my home town of Bridlington. I did completely forget that the stall was outside but I braved the cold until the evening rain came down. 

It was fantastic to see lots of local faces out for the Bridlington Dickensian Festival. The high street in the historic old town of Bridlington was full of lovely stalls and families enjoying the afternoon. Although windy my stall managed to stay intact, it was lovely as I was opposite the Alex May Gallery which also represent me and my work in Bridlington, along with other local artists.

Unfortunately I didn't manage to get many photographs from the day as I didn't dare get my hands out my pockets as it was so cold. I am really enjoying these Christmas fairs. I will let you know how my next one goes, which is infact today! 

Bridlington Old Town Festival!

Saturday was such a scorcher of a day! It was SO hot! On sunday it wasn't as nice but I still got chance to go down the the Bridlington Old Town Festival! 

This shop caught my eye, the owners produce had made only items out of wood! The prices are of such great value as well! I bought some letters for myself which I will show in a later post. 

How cute are these!

The weather didn't get to people with spirits on a high! There was great entertainment such as these morris dancers and earlier a tug of war! Can't wait for the next annual event of the town- Sewerby Gala!
