If your new to Lauren Cherice Designs... Here is a little introduction and update!

About:

Lauren Cherice is a Surface Designer currently based in the East Riding of Yorkshire. After graduating from Cleveland College of Art and Design in 2011 with First Class Honors in a BA(Hons) Textiles and Surface Design, Lauren launched her tote bag range. Lauren specialises in producing furnishing fabrics and accessories by traditionally screen printing her designs from home.
Inspired by natural flora and fauna, she uses her own photography to help her produce beautiful contemporary detailed drawings. The use of pen, ink and other mix media allow her to create several layers within her artwork to give her pieces subtle depth that develops through into her prints.

Current and Future News

My dream is to have my own screen printing studio in which I can print fabrics and have workshops. This is currently in development but I am hoping to seek some funding to help me with this dream. At present I screen print all my designs for my tote bags and cushions from my home in Bridlington. To fund my love for printing I currently have part time jobs in retail.

At the beginning of the year my mouse drawing was used for the Priory Mouse competition. http://www.priory900.org/name-the-priory-mouse/ I was very excited to be involved with the Priory 900 celebration.

I currently have a collection of screen printed tote bags and cushions for sale. I also produce my illustrations on greetings cards, iphone cases and giclee prints.

A Review of February!

Well, can you believe it, we're in March already! February was a quick but exciting month. So incase you missed any posts or news I thought I'd sum it up in a blog post for you :)

This month started with finishing a little commission I had been working on. This was a lot of fun. I enjoyed the hand embroidery.

Next... was my trip to visit The Old Grammar School Gallery in Otley, near Leeds. They are the first of my fantastic new stockists this year! The gallery is newly opened and has a monthly market at the end of each month! I am very excited to have my work there.

I was then excited to be interviewed for the Sunday Spotlight Post on the Blog: My Casita! The questions were fantastic. I always find it hard to talk about myself and my work so this was a great opportunity to have a go.

You may of heard about my Mr Mouse being in a competition with Bridlington's Priory 900 festival this year. The winner was announced and I was featured in our local weekly paper called the Bridlington Free Press. This was very exciting.

I also have another stockist for my Tote Bags... The Joe Cornish Gallery in Northallerton, North Yorkshire. This is such a beautiful Gallery. Joe Cornish's work is simply stunning! Another Gallery in Yorkshire worth visiting.

Then regards to drawing I began a new design featuring my foxglove image. I am really excited and love this design. I'm eager to get this on a screen ready to start printing in March. Although it is my Birthday this month so I have lots planned. :) I also now have 3 craft fairs booked for this summer, Bridlington, York and Hornsea!

Finally, (I think) I was asked to draw Sandy the rabbit for my friend Amy Rudd. He was beautiful to draw. Super cute! I love drawing but thoroughly enjoyed drawing Sandy. His fur was so interesting to capture. What do you think?

I will be producing a blog post about him from start to finish :)

Well, I think thats all for now. I have also opened my Etsy shop but it needs more items adding. So just keep a look out :)

I wonder what March will bring...

New Stockist- The Old Grammar School Gallery in Otley!

You may have seen on my Facebook and Twitter this week that I have a new stockist of my products- The lovely Old Grammar School Gallery in Otley.
I have never been to Otley so decided to take a little road trip and visit the gallery myself. Otley is a lovely little town near Leeds. The countryside surrounding it was so beautiful covered in this weeks snow. As a child I was lucky enough to visit lots of stately homes/castles and Otley is located near the fantastic Harewood House. (I also recommend this for visiting).

By myself for sale, I have a selection of my hand printed tote bags and cushions which I print from my home in Bridlington. I also have my range of greetings cards and Giclee prints featuring some of my favourites- Mr Duck and Mr Owl.

Here is a little picture of my card display in the Gallery :)

The current exhibition at the gallery for February is the work of David Johnson.

"The exhibition, entitled ‘A Study of Trees’ by David Johnson, comprises 38 paintings using oil and acrylic to express the trees in a manor not too far removed from the portraiture Johnson is traditionally known for."

The work was simply striking and bold, especially with such vibrant use of colour and mark making. The exhibition is on till the end of February. Go check it out now!
