Festival Season...

The festival season is quickly approaching and many of our high street stores are showcasing their best festival buys. I thought I would share with you some of my favourite pieces.

TOPSHOP

Its all about the folk and tile prints with Topshop. Gorgeous blue hues and burnt reds. They remind me slightly of the tile designs you see at the turkish baths. The ever popular denim shorts are also appearing  in their masses. I have a fair collection myself. I think I would be in trouble if I bought any more :)

I have bought a couple of bits from Topshop I will share with you when they arrive. I myself is very excited to be going to a festival this year... Glastonbury! Eeek. Not sure who is my favourite I want to see but it would be rude not to see Dolly and Blondie?

MISSGUIDED

Florals are always a big hit for summer. This year we are seeing loads of cute dresses and playsuits sporting this trend. Especially the daisy print!

Also this year we are seeing the statement Kimono, with or without a fringe. Your certainly going to turn heads wearing one of these. Again, we are seeing many gorgeous prints. I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to wear one myself but they are beautiful. I think I can see Dylan being driven wild by the fringe!

ARK

Another trend we are seeing everywhere is co-ords. I especially love this piece I found on Ark which is also supporting the floral trend with this lovely sunflower print. There is so many to choose from, please check out their website.

The bum bag is also a festival essential, never worry about having to hang on to your handbag swinging about everywhere, totally loving this aztec black and white design.

RIVER ISLAND

River Island is always one to watch with its bold and bright prints. The colours on both these pieces are so striking.

Cath Kidston

This tent immediately caught my eye! How fantastic is it! I'm not sure how my boyfriend would feel about this tent though. It reminds me of the Wendy houses you used to have as a child, but one for grown ups. So fun!

Another favourite from the Cath Kidston collection is this cute floral print hightop. Although if it rained I would be sad if these were covered in mud :)

The Priory Menswear Summer 13!

Nearly a year and a half from their opening date, The Priory Menswear has been transformed. Their ever growing list of top brands being stocked has led to this amazing selection of footwear for the locals of Bridlington and beyond to catch a glimpse of. I remember when I first went into the store their shoe collection began as only about dozen. Now, they grab your attention as you walk threw the door with their fantastic choice.

Most recently the store has had its third refit to accommodate its growing footwear stock. Which pair catches your eye?

Along with some photo's of the shop I thought I would share with you some of my favourite items of clothing they have to offer with some gorgeous prints!

Firstly we have the Jansport Off Trail Multiflower Power backpack. This print is so fun, it immediately caught my eye, so much, I had to purchase it myself (but the smaller version). It is perfect for if it rains being waterproof and I love that when I wear mine I feel like I'm off back to school :)

Next is the Drunk Aloha shirt by HUF. Its bold all over print includes the Hawaiian atmosphere, Huf branded bottle caps and text. Definitely one to wear on your jollies!

Penfield Casper 5 Panel Cap Printed Denim- I love its all over leaf print. I would wear this myself just for the print but I don't think it will suit me :)

Below is the Obey vintage Tie-Dye Tee. Tie-dye is everywhere at the moment, with festival season in full swing everyone has gone crazy for it. I have been meaning to have a go myself over the summer holidays but not manage to get round to it. I'm hoping to create something for Dylan.

Finally, another floral print. You can never go wrong with florals, here there and everywhere. Here we have the Carhartt Blue Orchid shirt. Another all over ditzy print.

Fashion and Textiles Exhibition at East Riding College

On Tuesday I went to the opening of the Level 3 BTEC Fashion and Clothing exhibition. I was very sad this year due to my work commitments I was unfortunate to get to CCAD's end of year show or New Designers. So, I was definitely going to try attend this one on my doorstep. I was very excited and thought I would share with you some of the students work.

As I love drawing wildlife, the work of Jess Pickering caught my eye straight away as I entered the room. Her drawing is absolutely stunning. I love how she combines her graphic style with fabric manipulation. Her butterfly illustrations looked extremely life like I thought one might love if I touched it.

Along with some excellent drawing there was some amazing sewing skills at hand. I have previously tried to make a corset at college on my foundation year so can appreciate how hard and complex it is. This piece above, is by Elizabeth Shipley. The execution of the piece was extremely professional. I was very impressed.

Another great piece was this corset by Charlotte Valerie Smith. I was very impressed with some of the standard of work of these students. It certainly made me want to go back to Uni. I would love to go back if I could. I think they might notice me though making a mess in the print room :)
