Lots of Goings on in Yorkshire.....

Things around Bridlington is changing and bicycles keep popping up around the town. We are very excited that as part of the Tour de Yorkshire, Bridlington is its starting point with the even more fantastic Bradley Wiggins cycling on our doorstep. It makes me feel very proud and excited to be from Yorkshire and Bridlington!

We are also excited to share with you The Victoria Mill's very own cycling club! They call themselves the Victoria Vikings. Obviously because they think they are Vikings :). The group has started to grow and meet regularly for rides along the Yorkshire coast and countryside.

Open for both male and female and abilities, the Victoria Vikings are hoping to grow. With what better way to start your Sunday with a cycle and a coffee from The Brew Mill. :)

So that's what have to look forward in May, what about April! Another exciting event is taking place in The Victoria Mill in association with The Priory, The Little Organic Bakery and The Brew Mill present Professor Elemental's Tea Party Extravaganza! Bringing you something British and eccentric! I can't wait! Especially excited for the food yum!

So what else have I been up to! I am eagerly waiting for it to get warmer so I can get outside in my studio! I have ventured out to produce a little personalised birdie cushion which is something I shall be advertising soon to do hopefully. It was certainly chilly outside washing my screens. Dylan didn't want to join me :)

Do you think they are a good idea? Going to have a little more practice with my screen with the letters on. 

With it soon to be April lets hope for some warmer weather, lots of drawing, printing and flowers blooming! 

Bridlington Vintage Fair!

What a gorgeous day in Bridlington it was this bank holiday Sunday...

With the sun brought lots of people and Bridlington's Vintage Fair. I have never been lucky enough to visit before due to work commitments so was so excited to be able to go at the weekend. However maybe that is a good thing as I did buy a few bits and bobs :) 

It was great to see everyone having fun at the Seaside, from live music outside to vintage cars, to even more vintage delights inside the luxurious Bridlington Spa. 

Live music played a part inside with many dancing along to the familiar songs being played. I loved seeing what people had brought for sale. As I grew up living with my grandparents I found myself spotting various items they have had themselves. Look at this box of watch faces, this looks so gorgeous as it is. 

So what did I buy...

This gorgeous floral umbrella I couldn't resist. It reminds me completely of Cath Kidston. I think it could easily be used in the sun for some shade and definitely in a down pour.

With festival season I couldn't resist these vintage levi shorts, embellished with some vintage lace. Dylan also looks like he likes them too. I'm glad he hasn't got his hands on them he would definitely like to chew the lace!

I also bought these two gorgeous felt hats! Absolute bargain at £20 the pair. I do have a habbit of buying things in various colours. Why not! They are gorgeous! 

Saving the best till last.... my favourite purchase was the gorgeous 60s sewing table. I am always on the look at for items for my new home, whether I have a place for it or not! I couldn't resist this item and when the seller reduced the price I thought it was fate! I went ahead and bought it straight away.

So if you haven't guessed I had a fantastic time! Spent a little more than I imagined but it was worth it. I'm hoping to seek out some more vintage fairs! And be at some fairs myself :)

March Travels Up North!

This month I took myself up north to have a lovely catch up with close friends, we explored many beautiful sights of the North of England so I have a few pictures from my trips out to show you.

Heading as far North as we could we got to see the magnificent Bamburgh Castle. Originally we only was travelling as far as Seahouses but once I caught a glimpse of the Castle I really wanted to get up close for a look. I couldn't believe how huge it is!

It is simply beautiful to see a landmark that has been around for hundreds of years!

We also went to Alnwick, another beautiful town in Northumberland. It has many tourist attractions to see, one being the Alnwick Tree House. We also came across some gorgeous shops in which I ended up nearly buying something in each one!

Burton Agnes Hall Orchid Festival 2014

So it was the gorgeous annual Orchid Festival at Burton Agnes Hall. Here is some of my pictures of the stunning flowers!

The snowdrops are also out in full swing is the wonderful woods.

Dear Diary 27.05.13

I feel like I have so much going on at the minute but I do love being busy. I have three part time jobs which isn't including Lauren Cherice Designs. I am also busy getting organised for my first craft stall of the year which is less than a week away! Eeek. 

At the weekend I popped in Behind the Times in Bridlington to supply them with my new stock.. my Iphone cases. The only problem going into the shop is that I want to buy EVERYTHING! There is so much to look at and want to buy. I love that the shop supports local crafters/designers too.

There is only one of each design there at the moment though! I hope for them to be on Etsy very soon :)

I have also been very busy in the knitting department. I am very addicted to 'Knit one, pearl one' at the minute. I have completed the pattern for Dylans jumper based on a book full of dog outfits which I got for my birthday. I decided to go with the size L but I think now it is going to be too small for Dylan. I intend to add a front panel to solve this problem. I would like to say thank you to my close friend Maggie who has had patience with me along the way. I also found this old multicoloured wool which I have started to knit with also.

We have also finally been in the Bridlington Free Press to celebrate our 1st birthday of been going for a year. I do think its such a lovely photo of us all. I have also got myself my dream bike! I LOVE it. It is so refreshing in the morning getting up and going for a ride on your way to work. 

I also came across these old cards I produced at university. They are screen printed with my squirrel repeat. I am debating what to do with them next. I can't decide whether to take them to my stall in Stockton this saturday! 

I have just spent a lovely weekend with some of my close friends from home. Lydia lives in York and Daniel lives in London so it is lovely to catch up with them at home for this bank holiday. Jade is now back after training to be a teacher. Dylan is growing up and I just love him more each day. He now has a new favourite thing of sneaking for a little snuggle on the bed in the morning. Here is Dylan watching me dry my hair. I think he was very bored as it seemed to take forever.

The Biscuit Factory, Newcastle.

I have seen The Biscuit factory on Facebook and always wanted to visit so.. whilst I was in Newcastle I got myself there! It is such a clean and beautiful gallery. It was great to see new upcoming artists work showcased around the gallery and in its shop. 

These bold paintings caught our eye by James Stewart. As I love to draw animals myself it was great to see these. I normally draw on a small scale so I was completely amazed by the scale of these. I love his series of Zebra paintings they reminded me of the work of Andy Warhol. 

Next to The Biscuit Factory is a studio space in which two of my close friends from the class of 2011 at CCAD have. I was very excited to visit their space but also very jealous as I miss us three getting up to mischief at Uni. But... it was great to see them and their work after uni. Here is one of their work bays. 

Newcastle and The Baltic!

Also last week whilst on my trip to Newcastle I went to visit the gorgeous Baltic. If you ever visit Newcastle this is a MUST place to visit! The view alone inside and around the Baltic is beautiful in its self!

One exhibition which caught my eye was the work of Fabrice Hyber. His current exhibition was being built as we visited but unfortunately opened the day after in which I had returned home. 

The Baltic Guide for the exhibition states: "Using a vast array of materials, Fabrice Hyber makes each of his works in response to another. considering works incomplete without and audience much of his exhibition is interactive, allowing his work to be engaged with ever-changing ways." 

I got so excited when the gallery assistant explained some of the pieces you could interact with I am definitely going to have another visit north to see it (I won't tell you what and spoil it for you). The Exhibition is on from 22nd March to 30th June 2013. It was great though to see the work of an exhibition being built. Here I put my paparazzi skills in place again with a quick snap on the man himself. Maybe I'm in the wrong career? :)
