Tomorrow: The First Summer Month?

So tomorrow apparently is the first 'summer' month. All I can say is I am still having to have my heating on in May! How crazy is that! This time last year I was enjoying the sunshine at Burton Agnes Hall amongst the beautiful flowers!

To get you into the mood for summer (when ever it arrives) I thought I would share some of these beautiful flowers from last years post. I am hoping to get drawing these flowers after this weekends Looka Teesside event in Stockton where I have a stall.

Enjoy.. and I hope we have a lovely sunny weekend! Roll on summer.... :)

Amazing Colour: Design Seeds

I thought a new blog post from me was in order as I have been a little quiet lately! So, I thought I would share with you some lovely colour palette's by Design Seeds.

I came across Design Seeds via Facebook and instantly fell in love with their amazing colour palettes which they create from an equally inspiring image.

I thought I would share with you some of my recent favourite ones from their site. Even though, I do like rather a lot of them.
I think this is such a great website to check out, especially if your struggling to find inspiration. It also makes me want to work out the tones within some of the imagery I have and create these mini mood boards.

What do you think? It makes me want to get drawing and experimenting with dyes :)

Some Beautiful Pictures of Bridlington on Instagram by Lynne Morelli

Over the last year, one app which has become increasingly popular is the photo editing app- Instagram. I love to use it myself and like other networking sites it is a great way to share your favourite moments in pictures with others. One person whose work I have become a huge fan of is the work of Lynne Morelli.
Lynne has traveled all around the country taking beautiful landscape shots of the sights around her. I was very happy to notice these familiar shots of Bridlington in some of her latest posts.

I love Lynne's use of contrasting colours; the blue bright sky in contrast to the dirty north east sea water. It simply looks beautiful. They definitely make Bridlington shine as a seaside town.

To View more of Lynne's Work you can find her Instagram page here:

Exhibition @ The Alex May Gallery, September!

This month I have had the exciting opportunity to exhibit my work at The Alex May Gallery in Bridlington. Working in the Gallery has been a great experience. It has been inspiring to share and discuss my own work with the other artists involved and meeting visitors with a love of art.

At the Gallery there is a selection of 6 artists including myself showing. Even though there is only a few of us, there is a great variety of work being exhibited which include textiles, painting, jewellery making, mix media art, and small sculptural art.

If you follow me on my facebook and twitter you may have seen me chatting about getting some prints done. These are now ready and having their debut for sale in The Alex May Gallery. Below is a little peak of these. The Alex May Gallery is based in the Historic Old Town of Bridlington. It is such beautiful location.

You can see a selection of my work and other artists in the window display. We have tried to capture a dark and mysterious theme with two of my dark toned printed lengths and one of Kate Jordan's beautiful paintings.

We have the stunning work of two local artists. Leanne Broadbent is a mixed media artist who produces quirky narrative canvas' and prints based on children's literature.
Kate Jordan is also another fine artist who produces both figurative and expressive paintings. Her influences are books, fairy tales and her imagination.

We also have photographer Keith Bruce a local landscape photographer, and Maybelle Rose who produces tiny little paintings inside nutshells.

Here are three of my furnishing lengths I am exhibiting from my final collection from University last year. I still love them and it's great to get some feedback from people who've never seen them before.

The Gallery will be Open next weekend also 11am-4pm. If your in Bridlington please pop by and say Hello!
We are also hoping to be open in October. I will keep you informed of these dates as they come.

Vintage Car Rally at Burton Agnes Hall!

Today I have been to the vintage car rally at Burton Agnes Hall. I can't say I know anything about cars, apart from knowing how to drive one, (And I'm not the best at that some may say) but it was so interesting.

There was a great turn out and the weather wasn't too bad either. It was great to see the owners of the cars with them standing proud. I went to the show with my nan and granddad. It was lovely to hear their stories about some of the cars which they owned themselves many years ago.

I'm hoping some of the imagery will inspire me for a project in the future. Here is a few of my snaps....

A Close Friend of Mine I'm Very Proud of!

I am very proud of my friend Lucy Hutchinson, so thought I would do a nice little blog post about her work!
Lucy is a second year BA(Hons) Photography course at Cleveland College of Art and Design. Over the past year she has been independently working as a freelance retoucher specialising in fashion and editorial imagery.

Most recently she has had work featured in SHE and Look Magazine and she has just finished working on the in-store campaign for USC.

I find her work so beautiful and thought I would share it with you.....

This then shows the image after retouching!

And this is what the image looked like before!
Amazing!
