So I went to the Gardeners Fair at Burton Agnes Hall, near Driffield.
Again, with the gorgeous weather it was such a beautiful day, making the flowers come out in full bloom. I took the opportunity to take some photographs of the flowers for some drawing inspiration. I love the bright colours that the sun created. Everything was so vibrant and bold.
It has been great to catch up with Beverley Parish from Uniko Studio! Who has been volunteering and working in the Folio! It must be great to be surrounded by sooooo many beautiful things! I would end up buying everything! Here is some of the featured designer makers work in there at the mo! Buy it whilst you can!
Cannot believe its nearly been a year since the class of 2011 degree show! Having been around CCAD over the last few weeks I am very excited for this year show! I think some of the work is so amazing and the ideas for the show itself! So everyone get the date in your diary! The Show starts on the 7th June!
When I have had some spare time on an evening I have been able to get some more samples done in the print rooms. I have had some more experiments with the dyes and manutex pulls, it is really interesting to see how the dyes disperse. Above is a sample of cotton sateen with procion dyes- olive green, lemon yellow, magenta and charcoal.
A sample using the same method but on dyed fabric.
I also printed a 3m length of my design in repeat on some brown paper at tonights print club. I thought I would try it on paper to see how my repeat works and learn from any mistakes made. I really enjoy producing lengths! Could easily do it all day! Here is some images of the repeat which is printed in metallic gold. I will get some better pictures next time.
At todays print club I have gone back to a technique I tried with some of my samples in third year. Using four of my dyes I have painted onto a wet screen then allowed it to dry. Then on some heavy cotton I have used manutex to pull the colour threw. Below is the results! I am very pleased. I think the green has dispersed more in areas so this is something I will work with my next one. I am hope to put these into frames in which people can use as wall art.
After looking at the vintage cars we went for a short walk in the woods at Burton Agnes Hall. Again, I spent alot of my childhood playing in these woods and when my nan was last here with my younger brother they bumped into David Hockney! It's easy to tell why, at this time of year the woodland is becoming full of life and is SO green!
Today I have been to the vintage car rally at Burton Agnes Hall. I can't say I know anything about cars, apart from knowing how to drive one, (And I'm not the best at that some may say) but it was so interesting.
There was a great turn out and the weather wasn't too bad either. It was great to see the owners of the cars with them standing proud. I went to the show with my nan and granddad. It was lovely to hear their stories about some of the cars which they owned themselves many years ago.
I'm hoping some of the imagery will inspire me for a project in the future. Here is a few of my snaps....
This evening I have been doing some some screen printing and getting some screens ready! I have used an old linear koda trace and then also placed my cut through from the weekend on a screen too.
Afterwards I got a little bit of time to do some sampling. I got rather excited to see my work on a screen. Can't wait to do my length next week :) It was also a nice surprise to see my birdies which i printed during my second year. The pigment must of stained the screen. Made me smile!
