Half Way There...

Can't believe January has nearly been and gone already! Where does the time go these days! I'm also half way through spending my time in London and doing my internship. Today was the official celebrations for Chinese New Year and it was sooo busy! I also spent the afternoon in the National History Museum. I have visited this place many times before and it never gets old. My favourite part is the dinosaurs. At the moment they also have a wildlife photography exhibition which looked really fab. I never got chance to see it but have decided to buy the book instead as I saw some postcards and loved the imagery.

Lots of Fab Magazines Out This Month!

This month there seems to be loads of good magazines out! So... as you can see- I've gone abit mad and got them all!
My favourite of them has to be Elle Collections which is only out twice a year! It is full of inspiration with the latest trends on fashion and the designers latest collections! I love it! I have also got a selection of interior magazines- to fill my brain with ideas whilst on my placement! I definitely suggest there is a few good reads here if you have a spare few pennies this month :)

David Hockney Exhibition: A Bigger Picture.

I am loving my spare time and getting the opportunity to explore London. From last week until April is this fantastic exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts- David Hockney- A Bigger Picture.

David Hockney is famous world wide, but what I love about his work is my own personal connection. His inspiration for is work is where I live so I really relate to his work and love that I recognise the landscapes. Going to see his exhibition made me feel like I was at home when looking at the art.

As a textile student specialising in surface design, colour is really important to me. Within this exhibition shows some of Hockney's work of landscapes changing over the seasons, it is simply amazing to see how he varies the colour but keeping the landscape the same. It is beautiful!

His most resent works also include works on the ipad. It is great to see how he can create images with such detail and creating the same marks using technology rather than traditional methods of painting.

It is definitely work going to see. For more information about tickets and opening times, visit the Royal Academy of Arts website:

Chinese New Year in London!

Yesterday, I had a walk down soho, leading to china town. This week is the Chinese New Year so I really wanted to get down there to see the decorations. I love the decorations, especially the chinese lanterns. It was extremely busy, the shops with the most queue's were the exquisite cake shops. As you can see in the photographs above they were beautifully decorated with so much detail. All thats left to say is... Happy Chinese New Year!

More Lovely Pictures Of London! Week 1 Done Already!

This weekend I got the chance to go visit the Tate and St Pauls. I managed to get the timing right so I could see it in daylight and night! It was rather chilly as over the past week the temperatures seem to have dropped but the sights were beautiful.

Also, I've just completed week 1 of my internship! The week has definitely flown by. I have been very nervous and do still get a little case of the nerves but I feel like I'm quite comfortable now. Last week samples came for their new outdoor woven collection so we was busy sorting the samples and sticking on their headers. I also got the opportunity to create new colour-ways for one of their original designs called Span. After a week, I feel I am beginning to get familiar with the colours they use and their designs.

Anyway... on to week two! I'll let you know how it goes!
