What a Fantastic Year 2011 Has Been!

Looking at 2011, it really has been a fantastic year with so many memories and achievements!

The year began with the start of our final major project in January, followed by me and some of my friends going to Paris to the Premier Vision Trade Show. Having been before we knew it was going to be a great experience and we also got chance to display our work.

During the last few month of uni we finished our final major project and began planning our degree show- 9th June 2011. It was such a fab evening with everyone displaying all their hard work! Well done Class of 2011!

In July, I was lucky enough to be selected for New Designers 2011 with 13 other students from our year. So we spent the week in London. From returning to London, I moved back to Bridlington. It was sad to leave my life in Hartlepool behind after three years. I have made lots of memories and many friends who I still miss lots each day!

Time seem to go very fast and next thing me and miss Anni Cranston set off to spend a month in Tanzania teaching. This has had to be one of the best experiences in my life, and I couldn't of shared it with a nicer person! If I got the chance I would go back tomorrow. I hope to some point in my life, and would like to say thank you again to people who sponsored us for this trip. It definitely made me a stronger person and really opened up your eyes to how different things are in England.

In September I became an auntie to a beautiful little boy called Austin. He is gorgeous! And also visited the East Riding College on a few occasions to talk about my work and surface design.

October, I began printing away again my tote bag designs for the CCAD- The Folio Shop where they have been for sale from mid November. This was really exciting and great opportunity for me to sell my work.

November, well! I got to see everyone again for our proudest moment of the year! Graduation! I officially graduated with a degree in Textiles and Surface Design with First Class Honours! Never felt so proud of myself and my friends. All the hard work at the beginning of the year paid off.

So, so many memories and achievements I am very proud of. I love my friends and family and hope we share just as much if not more exciting times this year.

Lots of Love and Best Wishes to you all. Xx

Product Visualisation.

These are a couple of images I did for my product visualisation. I think they work quite well, with the white and cream bases the colours in my print really stand out. Yesterday I hung some of my three metre lengths in my window as we have a really tall ceiling. It made me feel really proud to see them and the light hitting the fabric really emphasised the print.

FMP Done!

Today has been strange, this morning was the hand in of our Final Major Project. I can't believe its over. I love printing and drawing and feel abit lost without my work. Hopefully after a little rest I would like to start researching some new ideas. I am really pleased with my FMP and how its looks, I've tried so hard and hopefully it will pay off.

Todays Printing..

Today I have been printing this design, it is the most complicated length I have printed with seven colour separations, and it is actually supposed to be eight! It has gone quite well and I'm really proud of myself! I will be printing my last length tomorrow which is rather sad but I have loved every minute and feel pretty confident printing lengths now.

I Love Printing Lengths :)

Only One Week Left!

Next week is our last week in the print room and uni before handing in our final major project. This is my fourth design and my eighth printed length! Yes eighth! and I only was planning to do six. I really love printing and seem to have got into the swing on things. I was worried I wouldn't get my 6 designs printed but now I have extra ones its great! Hopefully I will have a successful last week! Even thoughI don't want to leave... :(

May Already! Not long left!

So far this week I have completed another painted design, and today I have done another two printed lengths, I am pleased with how they have turned out. I had a very tricky job of creating a 3 metre textured background. I chose to do a manutex pull and painted two large furnishing screens with my dye. I still need to steam my silhouette mirrors to fix it but I really love how this design has turned out and think it looks quite dramatic! I have a break from printing tomorrow but back at it for another length on friday!

Fourth Length....

I only expected to get one design done per day this week as I only had the print table booked on two days but now I am on my fourth design. I wanted to use a variety of fabric weights, this one above is organza silk (which is why you can see my previous design through) and again I am printing the tree design. I haven't finished this design yet so I will continue with it on Tuesday! Its very strange having another 4 day weekend as I thought today was Saturday!

Number Three.....

This is my third length! This is another of my favourite designs but I did occur a few problems on the way! It isn't prefect but that's what makes the piece have that hand printed feel. This is the second of six different designs I am producing!

Second Length!

Things went quite well after my first print and I really love this design so with determination I thought I would get another colour way printed. This is the same design but has a really different feel. The mirror is created using devore and gives you the sense you can look through it. I quite like this and think it will be really interesting when hung up.

Yay! Finals on the go!

Busy busy! With only two weeks left after this week I am busy printing my final lengths! This was my first length. It is my favourite design and consists of an antique mirror design in a baroque style motif. The colours I chose I really love as they are quite rich and royal! Fitting with todays big wedding coincidently! It was very nervous to get going with my length but was fun!
