Christmas Designers Marketplace 2012!

Last Saturday was the Annual Christmas Designers Marketplace in Middlesbrough. It was my very first craft stall so I was very nervous and excited! I wasn't sure what to expect. The day seemed to fly by. Middlesbrough Town Hall was a beautiful venue, it was full of festive joy with Christmas music and films on the big screen. Here are a few pictures from the day and my stall.

I bought some props from an old fruit and veg shop. I wanted to create a 'farmers market' stall appearance as I felt it would fit in with my imagery and products. I think this has worked quite successful.

I took these snaps from my stall, although they don't do the place justice! The day had a fab range of 60 stalls with a fab range of gifts. I had to stop myself looking as I wanted to buy everything!

It was also great to see some friendly faces. Here's my friend Bev from Uniko Studio having her debut also at the Designers Marketplace. Her stamps are fantastic and she had a great try before you buy on them so I was eager to have a go.

It was a great day with more sales than I expected. Thank you to everyone who came along and visited. I hope to see you all there next year!

The Dickensian Festival, Bridlington Old Town!

This Sunday the 9th December 2012 was Bridlington's Old Town's annual Dickensian Festival.
The weather behaved itself, although it was rather chilly but we had mulled wine and candy canes to keep us warm and sweet :)

I was very excited to see so many people and families out celebrating the town seasonal event. Our Exhibition at the Alex May Gallery is titled 'Seasons Greetings and will run until the end of January 2013.

New work by me is my two framed prints which are ready and for sale! I have sold one so these are the last two. I am hoping to make some more of these in the future if they become successful. Another item having its debut is my little squirrel packs where you get everything you need to make your own little squirrel.

Thank you to everyone who came along. Enjoy your Christmas and best wishes for the New Year!

Little Dylan!

I am happy to introduce you to a new little man in my life. His name is Dylan, the french bull dog. He will be only 10 weeks old tomorrow!
I have never had a dog before, only a hamster. We still have Boo our nearly two year old hamster but they haven't been introduced yet. I am hoping to make Dylan his own blog so just keep an eye out for that one! Here are some pictures from his first week with us :)

p.s Can't wait to get drawing him!

Screen Printing with the Children at Bay Primary.

If you follow my facebook page you will have seen me say I was going into a local primary school to show my work and do a screen printing demonstration. I was quite nervous about the children understanding the method. But they was very inquisitive and curious asking lots of questions which was great!

I was then asked to go in the following week to help them do their own screen printing. I was very surprised to see a primary school with their own screen printing equipment, I thought it was impressive!

During the week the children had prepared their own stencil to screen print, based on looking at the work of William Morris. We then worked in groups of four using red pigment and began the printing on fabric.

Some of the results were fantastic! It was great fun, we got rather messy too. Although I think I came off worse than the children :)
It was great to teach the children and a learning curve for me too.

Here are some of the results! They are going to continue in class and add more colours to the print!
How exciting!
