East Yorkshire Open Studios 2015!

I am very excited to be taking part in the East Yorkshire Open Studios this October for two weekends!

Preparation is in full swing! A little paint here and a little tidy there, but most importantly some creativity and printing! I am so excited to have two full weekend at home with hopefully some visitors to pop by and discuss screen printing with! 

You can find myself and the very talented Jenny Morton right opposite each other! Along with Rosemary Abrahams also located in Bridlington. 

Dylan has been the first favourite I have been printing! I have also been experimenting with these hand printed fabric pieces and making them into bunting! 

I love printing and have some exciting events I am attending over Christmas!

Bridlington Celebrations for 2013!

Sewerby Park and Gardens!

If you ever visit Bridlington I recommend you visit Sewerby. I used to spend alot of my childhood playing here as it also has a lovely children's play area. Along with the zoo as blogged about earlier there is also some fantastic gardens and woodland, aswell as the Hall. Here, are some of my favourite snaps.

Update of the Last Week Coming Up! Part 3.

Aswell as visiting Scarborough I also took the girls to visit Sewerby Park which is just on the outskirts of Bridlington. They have a small zoo which I wasn't sure if would be open yet but it was! Below are a few shots of the animals we saw.

This rather large pig smiled nicely for the camera. Sewerby Zoo is known for its group of penguins and they was very cute. I think they thought we had come to feed them as they were all ready at their door and sticking their heads through the gap in the gate!

You all know how I love birds, and the zoo has a fantastic selection, different types with some fantastic bold colours.

This little emu really wanted a bite of Anni.

Back to Yorkshire....

I have now finished my placement and stayed an extra two weeks bringing it to 2 months which went extremely fast! I feel like I have learnt so much and feel very inspired! Definitely worth all the spending and opened my eyes to how much it costs living in the capital.

Also... I can't believe its actually march already and already one week in! Its very strange going from the 'big smoke' and travelling about to being back home living next to the countryside and hearing the birds tweet in a morning rather than the loud noises of planes. I shall be still busy posting lots of things though so please keep checking the blog :) More to follow.....

Talking About Surface Design @ East Riding College

Last month I took my portfolio and some sketchbooks into East Riding College to discuss Surface Design and life at CCAD. I do get nervous talking about my work, especially to a group of people I don't know but it was a great experience and has made me more confident.

I went into the college on three occasions, and showed my work to some textiles classes and a graphics class.

Whilst discussing surface design I talked about the course at CCAD, the trade shows I have been able to visit, competitions and also talked about the importance of copyright within producing designs. It was quite hard to explain the process of producing a design in repeat to people, who don't know how to do it but with practice it becomes clearer and easier to explain.

Everyone seemed engaged, it was great to share techniques and methods and also getting feedback on my work.
