Knitting Clubs Creations!

Tonight we have had another knitting club session. I thought I would share with you some of the creations made by these talented ladies. We are a mixed ability group which is great as we all learn from each other. Some crochet too which is now becoming popular with the group. I was also delighted to see three new members turn up. It is great meeting new people. At present we have about 15 members. Its fantastic.

You may have seen me post on Instagram this picture of Maggie's selection of beautiful British made wool. She has now transformed them from balls into this stunning crochet fabric which is to be made into a cushion.

Maggie has developed her crochet skills over the last few weeks with some help from the lovely Rowena.

Some of the members of the group have been knitting doll's clothes which are to be sent to Nepal to have a new home with a doll called Tasha which has already been sent. I haven't tried to knit anything yet as I am still a beginner but this lovely outfit was produced by Karen.

Fianlly, another piece by Rowena. A few weeks a go she created a poppy cushion in cream. This week she came along with the same design on a light brown/grey. I love the poppy's. This is going to be my next task! I am determined to be learnt how to make this gorgeous item!

My Scarf is Finished!

Well, I definitely find screen printing alot easier than knitting but I have enjoyed knitting my first scarf and for such a great cause. It was a little over the 45 inches but I thought I would use up the last of my ball. I am impressed with how neat my first scarf is and got great feedback from the other knitters. Overall with everyones contribution we managed to knit 90 scarves to send to the soldiers in Afghanistan. Well done everyone!

I do have to admit though I missed it when I had finished it! So, I've now started this purple/pink one below. This one is only 40 stitches wide so I hope now I've had some practice I will get it finished abit quicker.

Take a Look at my Friend- Katy's Knits!

I love my friend Katy's beautiful knits and thought I would dedicate a blog post to her work and with it being Christmas just around the corner these cute snowmen baby blankets definitely make you want a snuggle with one.

Katy is a recent graduate from Hull College of Art, within her final year she chose to specialise in Knit and its easy to see why! So Talented! I can do a bit of knitting myself but more like the knitting you do with your grandma.

Katy's work also includes hand made jewellery items along with scarves, here is a quote from the lady herself about her work:

"No piece is the same meaning the wearer has a unique and personal item to wear. Colour and design variations are available."

For more information on Katy's work visit her blog: www.katysknits.blogspot.com or feel free to drop her an email: klbancroft1@hotmail.co.uk. She is also available for commissions!
