Where you can find Lauren Cherice...

We are now entering the festive season with Halloween and Bonfire night behind us. I am very busy getting my products and designs ready for my Christmas Fairs running though-out November and part of December. So this is where you can find me. 

Starting of next weekend... We have the Living North Fair at York Racecourse! I am so excited this is my second year at the Event! This year I will have some new products and designs with me, along with some of your favourites. 

Next up is another event in York. This time in the city centre. York is such a lovely place to be at Christmas. The city is filled with many events for the festive season and the Home and Lifestyle Fair is certainly on for your Diaries. This is my first time at The Hospitium in York. So I am very excited! 

You can also find my work at The Dickensian Festival in Bridlington on the 23rd of Nobember at The Alex May Gallery on the Old Town Highstreet.

Then my final event is bringing me back home to Bridlington Spa. This is a two day event at the beginning of December!

Burton Agnes Hall Orchid Festival 2014

So it was the gorgeous annual Orchid Festival at Burton Agnes Hall. Here is some of my pictures of the stunning flowers!

The snowdrops are also out in full swing is the wonderful woods.

Valentines Weekend and the 16th!

Valentines weekend already! Can you believe it! Its fair to say these chocolates did NOT last long at all. I was also delighted to have my first fair of 2014 this weekend, back at the Merchant Hall for the third time. This time my stall was placed in a different location on the ground floor of the building. (Next to the yummy tearoom). It was great to see some familiar faces. Here is my little stall, I did have a helper with me for the day but they decided to hide for this picture. Sunday was such a gorgeous day, especially after all the horrible wind and rain we had. My heart goes out to all those effected by the floods. There was lots of people making the most of the Spring sunshine. 

The buildings wooden beams were amazing. Even though it was slightly creepy I loved the sound of people walking on the old wooden floor boards above.

To the event I took a long many of my current designs to the fair. I have a few new ones on the go including Mr Fox, I cannot wait to produce him on my work and get printing. The fair also has a cute little vintage tea room serving delicious cakes and tea. Yum!

Anyway, I hope you all had a fab weekend. I thought it was Valentine's Day today so was very disappointed to find out it isn't for a couple of more weeks!

Hornsea Leisure Centre. 4/8/13

Last weekend I was at Hornsea Leisure Centre with many other traders from around the East Riding of Yorkshire. It was a lovely summers morning and I haven't been to Hornsea for ages so I was glad to visit the small coastal town. I got my stall set up and off we went! I spoke to a variety of lovely people which is what I love about doing these events. 

My Mr Duck cards all flew to new homes. He certainly has been very popular this summer with everyone. People say its his eyes and the way he looks at you! The little charmer.

I am also so pleased with my vintage ladder. It is so fantastic to display my tote bags from. I am rather in love with it!

My next event is still to be confirmed but it could be in September. I shall keep you posted :) 

From Yorkshire with Love!

This weekend I spent it at the lovely heart of Yorkshire (well I'd say it is) at the city of York. It is such a beautiful city and the historic Merchant Hall itself was beautiful alone without any of our stalls in there. 

When I had got all set up I had a brief little walk around the building before doors opened. It was another one of our sunny summer days. I was slightly worried we might get some thunder showers. 

The atmosphere in the building was completely different to the last two events I have recently done. The event had a more vintage feel with live singers in the afternoon to serenade us.

Here we have my little stall. I have got into a little routine with my stall and organising where everything goes. I hope this is a good thing. I am planning to change it all around for my Christmas events. (Soon to be announced) Mr Duck seemed to be catching everyones eyes on Sunday. He certainly was Mr Popular. 

What I also love about doing these events is meeting other stall holders and the lovely public. Two people I got to have a natter with on the day is a new company called "Clean Slate" who was established this year in March. I fell in love with their hand crafted heart cake stand. I am sure I will have to use it on my stall to display something at one event. It is simply gorgeous. 

Another lovely face to see was Teacup Tweed. I first was introduced to the lovely Lizzie last Christmas as the Designers Marketplace and have followed her progress since. Teacup Tweed produce gorgeous furnishings for the home made in North Yorkshire but with a Scottish Heart.

Sewerby Hall Orangery and The Free Press!

So here we are in July already! Can you believe it. As I keep saying I really don't know where this year is going. On Sunday I had another stall in the beautiful Orangery. I was slightly worried incase we had some rain but I was completely wrong. The sun came out and it had to be one of the hottest days we have had for a while. The grounds of Sewerby was full of families enjoying the glorious weather and stunning scenery. However, I'm not sure why I took a picture of the ceiling of the Orangery but I thought it was interesting. 

At Sewerby there was a lovely stall selling knitted items for Macmillan. I absolutely fell in love with this little house which turned into a tissue box. The lady showed us how they were made. I think they are fantastic and even better.. for a great cause. 

So here you are, a little picture of me. At my last event I had a 12ft table so I was finding it very difficult to condense my stock to fit a 6ft space but I got there in the end. What do you think?

I was also very happy to see an article published in the local paper- The Bridlington Free Press about me and my friend Lydia and our businesses. I wasn't sure when it was going to be in so it was lovely to wake up Thursday morning with some messages from close friends saying they had seen it.

Finally, just to let you know my next event is at the end of July at the Merchant Adventurer's Hall in York. It is such a beautiful building and I am very excited to be in such a beautiful city in the heart of Yorkshire.

About:

Lauren Cherice is a Surface Designer currently based in the East Riding of Yorkshire. After graduating from Cleveland College of Art and Design in 2011 with First Class Honors in a BA(Hons) Textiles and Surface Design, Lauren launched her tote bag range. Lauren specialises in producing furnishing fabrics and accessories by traditionally screen printing her designs from home. 

Inspired by natural flora and fauna, she uses her own photography to help her produce beautiful contemporary detailed drawings. The use of pen, ink and other mix media allow her to create several layers within her artwork to give her pieces subtle depth that develops through into her prints.

Current and Future News

My dream is to have my own screen printing studio in which I can print fabrics and have workshops. This is currently in development but I am hoping to seek some funding to help me with this dream. At present I screen print all my designs for my tote bags and cushions from my home in Bridlington. To fund my love for printing I currently have part time jobs in retail. 

At the beginning of the year my mouse drawing was used for the Priory Mouse competition. http://www.priory900.org/name-the-priory-mouse/ I was very excited to be involved with the Priory 900 celebration.

I currently have a collection of screen printed tote bags and cushions for sale. I also produce my illustrations on greetings cards, iphone cases and giclee prints.

Dates for your Dairy 2013....

Oh my... It's May Already!!
Incase you don't know I have a stall booked at a few events this summer. Firstly, on the 1st of June in Stockton is the 'Looka Teesside' event. Bringing a range of creatives to the north east.

I am now on my planning for these events so this should keep me busy over the next few weeks. I also have a new part time job to try save some money to put towards my studio. 

I am also excited to have my first stall in York. I love visiting York, seeing its castle and exploring the cobbled streets. This event is 'From Yorkshire with Love' on the 28th of July. It is set in the beautiful Merchant Adventurers' Hall :) 

I am also attending two local craft stalls, the first one being at Sewerby Hall and Gardens in the Orangery. This one is on Sunday 30th June and open 11- 4pm. If your not from Bridlington and coming for a visit that weekend, why not pop along! 

My second stall booked so far locally, is at the Hornsea Leisure Centre on Sunday 4th August, also open between 11-4pm. I am hoping to book a few more events for the summer and end of the year. I will keep you informed.

HandMade in York by Pedally Steve!

Recently I had a lovely visit to York for a brief catch up with my friend Annie Potter. My Macbook went in for repair in Newcastle and she kindly met me to save me the long journey back up North. Whilst looking around we came across this guy- Pedally Steve. He was definitely a character. The man produces hand made name signs. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen my post of the one I got made if not you can see it below. 

I aren't sure if the videos capture how fast his machine was actually going but it was SO fast! I can't believe he hasn't lost a finger! When we went back to get my name done it was 3 o'clock, he had been working since 10am without a break! Every name he produced had the same style font he is a very talented man. I got a few names done for some special people as little gifts. 

I especially love mine and it has its own pride and place on my desk :)

Saltburn Arts Fair

This weekend I took a small trip up the coast road to Saltburn to see their first arts fair. The weather behaved itself apart from a few small showers. I have never been to Saltburn before but the atmosphere was fantastic with everyone enjoying the stalls, folk music and food. 

It was nice to see a few familiar faces there. I met up with Mavis and Bev from CCAD class of 2011. It was great to see them along with seeing Colleen Ellington and her stand. Full of bright and bold screen prints, it looked fab, love it! To see more of her work here is the link to Colleen's Blog.

Also exhibiting at Saltburn was France Moffatt and her beautiful illustrations. I love how she fills in the illustrations with bright bold prints! Simple but so eye catching!  I think she is someone to definitely keep an eye on! I love her work!

Another familiar face at the fair was Helen Stevens and her brand Surfacephilia! Helen produces a gorgeous range of wallpapers, ceramics and greetings cards. As also being a graduate from CCAD it is great to see her success. To see more of Helen's products, here is her website below:
